The National Railway Museum is based in York and contains a collection of steam trains, locomotives and many items related to the world of steam engines and railways.
The museum is home to several famous locomotives, including the Flying Scotsman (pictured above) and the Mallard, though these do tour from time to time and so are not always on display "in situ".
